The position of the seven candidates over the issues
of terrorism, security, reconciliation, etc are quite clear, but when it
comes to their position on economic policy it is still a mystery.
Candidates of the Algeria presidential election of mid-April 1999 remain
very hesitant to talk about economics. In fact, a debate over their
economic platform that was scheduled for the end of March 1999 was canceled
for no clear reason. This article attempts to provide some information
