BOUTEFLIKA AND JOSPIN MET IN NEW YORK President Bouteflika met with the French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin in New York during the UN's general assembly. The meeting lasted 2 hours and was considered by Jospin as a "historical chance and an opportunity" to jump-start the Algeria-France relations. In response to Jospin's statement, Bouteflika also highlighted "the beginning of a normalization process in the relations between the two countries."
