Toward
a Summit of Maghreb Leaders Germany
won the bid to host WorldCup 2000 beating South Africa by a one vote
margin only.
The two following articles were published prior to the decision of the FIFA. The articles looked at Morocco's lobbying efforts and assessed its chances to win the contest. ---- -WorldCup 2006 COUNT-DOWN IN ZURICH Now that Brazil has withdrawn from the race and its supporters are most likely to endorse South Africa, the chances for Morocco to host WorldCup 2006 are getting slimmer. Only a few hours before the world football body makes its decision on the venue, Morocco continues to hope to be selected instead of its southern rival. ---- - WorldCup 2006 FOR AND AGAINST MOROCCO The selection committee for World Cup 2006 at the International Football Federation Association FIFA is composed of 24 members.
